Bierka Cornielle Brings Passion and Achievement to Birch Riverdale

Since 2008, this dedicated and compassionate employee has worked tirelessly with students at the Riverdale Early Childhood Center in both our early childhood and structured teaching classrooms.

“At Birch’s Riverdale Early Childhood Center, we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of our staff. Specifically, we would like to recognize Bierka Cornielle, a teaching assistant at Birch Riverdale since July, 2008.

Bierka is a dedicated and compassionate employee who has worked tirelessly with our students in both our early childhood and structured teaching classrooms.

Most recently, Bierka received her Associates degree from Bronx Community College (with honors, of course) and was the recipient of the both the Presidential and Latino Awards.

This fall, Bierka has been accepted for admission into City University of New York’s, Bachelor of Arts Program. Following completion of her Bachelor’s degree, Bierka is already thinking about her Master’s degree and long range goal of receiving her certification as a dual special/general education teacher along with her bilingual extension.

We congratulate Bierka for her many achievements and pursuit of her ongoing professional development. Bierka is a true testament to hard work, resilience and determination. We look forward to her future accomplishments.”

The Riverdale Early Childhood Center is a vibrant, community preschool program located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Our special educators make up our talented teaching and related services staff. Differentiated instruction, recognizing each child’s learning ability, style, and preference is incorporated into a nurturing and supportive environment to encourage child-centered learning. Our classrooms are rich in technology, literacy based programs, visual supports, music therapy, and nutritional instructional supports.
