Birch Family Services Launches Second Annual Back to School Fundraiser 

Contributions Will Provide Needed Back to School Supplies for New York City Students with Autism & Developmental Disabilities  

NEW YORK (August 23, 2022) — Birch Family Services announces the launch of its annual Back to School fundraiser for the upcoming school year. As the leading provider in New York City of early childhood and school-age education programs for students with autism and developmental disabilities, Birch Family Services’ fundraiser will be critical to its mission to provide specialized assistance every step of the way in these students’ educational journey. 

As the new school year quickly approaches, Birch Family Services is gearing up to welcome more than 1,000 students to its schools. However, during this time, many families in the organization’s network struggle to provide the school supplies necessary for an optimal learning environment. To ensure every child and classroom has the resources they need, Birch Family Services created its Back to School fundraiser for supporters to make purchases from the organization’s Amazon charity page with back to school wish lists for each of the organization’s schools and the Children’s Residential Project. The Children’s Residential Project supports school-age children with complex needs by providing a highly structured and integrated environment to help develop life skills 24/7 at school and at home.  

Purchases made from the wish lists are sent directly to classrooms and the Children’s Resident Project to meet their needs. This is the second year in a row that Birch Family Services is hosting its Back to School fundraiser after successfully raising $8,600 worth of school supplies and donations last year to help students. 

“The start of the school year can be a stressful time for families, particularly for families that have children with autism or other developmental delays. These students especially need all the right tools and the best conditions to thrive in their learning,” said Matt Sturiale, CEO of Birch Family Services. “This fundraiser will have a positive impact on these students and their families, ensuring our classrooms will be equipped and families have the supplies to best serve the needs of our children. The Back to School fundraiser wish lists feature items that are essential to every student’s success at school and at our Children’s Residential Project, including backpacks, SMART Boards, educational toys, weighted blankets, and more educational items.
