Meet Our Team Birch Runners: Benjamin Nottingham

Next on our Team Birch is Ben Nottingham.  A member of the Birch Young Professionals Board for the past three years, Ben has been a dedicated supporter of Birch, lending his time and effort at our events and running in our past 5K Fast Track to Empowerment races.  When he found out about the chance to support Birch for the United Airlines NYC Half, he jumped at the opportunity!

What motivated you to participate in the NYC Half?

BN: Participating in the NYC Half gives me the incredible opportunity to raise vital funds for Birch Family Services. Knowing that every step I take contributes to supporting Birch’s mission inspires me to push myself

Why are you running to raise funds for Birch Family Services?

BN: I’m running for Birch because I believe in their mission and the transformative impact they have on the lives of individuals and families affected by autism. Witnessing the incredible work Birch does fuels my determination to make a difference.

Have you ever participated in a Half or full Marathon? If yes, what race(s)? What was your experience like?

BN: How do you prepare for long-distance runs, and what strategies do you use to stay motivated during the race?

BN: By running….a lot. This is my first race so I am kind of just winging it.

What are some of your other hobbies?

BN: Outside of running, I love water skiing, paddle boarding, boating, and anything on the water.

Do you have any words of encouragement or tips for Half training for other runners?

BN: If I can do it, anyone can.

What are you most looking forward to leading up to or on the day of the race?

BN: I’m looking forward to the moment of crossing the finish line the most, knowing that with each step it took me to get there made an impact in supporting Birch Family Services and their mission of empowerment and inclusion.
