14th Annual 5K Forward Draws Record Turnout, Raises More Than $120K

Birch Family Services’ 14th Annual 5K Forward: Fast Track to Empowerment brought an incredible community together on Sunday at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62, making this year’s event our largest 5K yet. More than 300 runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, families, and supporters joined together in support of Birch’s mission and the children, adolescents, and adults we proudly serve.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was seeing individuals and families connected to Birch participating alongside the community. From cheering on runners and crossing the finish line to celebrating together after the race, their excitement and energy continue to make this event so special year after year.

The event celebrated not only athletic achievement, but the spirit of community, inclusion, and empowerment that defines Birch. Congratulations to this year’s top finishers:

1st Place Male: Malik Stewart
1st Place Female: Melissa Munoz

2nd Place Male: Eli Shlonsky
2nd Place Female: Samantha Bobal

3rd Place Male: Max Lustig
3rd Place Female: Gabrielle Vaculikova

Congratulations also to Top Fundraising Team: Team Sammy for leading this year’s fundraising efforts.

To date, the event has raised more than $120,000, with fundraising continuing through June 30, 2026. Every dollar raised helps Birch Family Services continue providing vital programs and opportunities for children, adolescents, and adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Birch Family Services extends its gratitude to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, sponsored, and helped make this year’s event a success.

Special thanks to our sponsors, including Champion Sponsor Lamb Insurance Services, Community Partner Sponsor EisnerAmper, and Refreshment Sponsors Apple Bank, JD Masters Plumbing & Heating Inc., and Virtu Financial.
