A Message for Direct Support Professional Week 2026

At Birch, our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the heart of our work. They are our essential frontline workers. Every day, they help the people we support pursue their goals, build new skills, participate in their communities, and make meaningful choices about their lives. They are advocates, problem-solvers, coaches, counselors, trusted partners, and the lifeline to many of the individuals we support. They turn possibility into progress, building trust, confidence, and connections that help people live life on their own terms.

The impact of a DSP cannot always be captured in words. It can be seen in the confidence someone develops after learning a new skill, the pride that comes with greater independence, and the relationships that help a person feel heard, respected, and valued. This happens every day! These moments are possible because our DSPs bring patience and compassion while holding an unwavering commitment to their work.

While this week provides an important opportunity to celebrate our DSPs, their contributions deserve our recognition and gratitude throughout the entire year.

To all our Direct Support Professionals: thank you for the skill, heart, and humanity you bring to your work in supporting our individuals and families at home, work, school, and the communities.
