Finding His Place: How Birch Helped Alberto Land a Job and Pursue His Dream
At first, Alberto P. was having difficulties fitting in. Like many young adults on the autism spectrum, he faced issues in navigating the transition from high school to finding employment and beyond. But when he joined the New Frontier program at Birch Family Services, everything started to change.
Working with staff at New Frontier, Alberto gained insight into the job application process and learned the best practices for applying to jobs that matched his career goals. Alberto learned He saw the results of his efforts immediately, obtaining a position as an usher at AMC Theatres.
“The way I was applying to jobs wasn’t working, I worked on my resume and needed to use the right application to apply. As soon as we changed strategies, I got a job so fast,” Alberto said. “I was searching for months, and it was so amazing when I got the call that I got the job.”
As an usher, Alberto keeps the space clean and welcoming for guests. His primary responsibilities include restocking supplies and maintaining the cleanliness of the theater floors between showings.
