March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

Every March, we observe Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to promote inclusion and raise awareness about the contributions of people with developmental disabilities.

Established in 1987, it aims to remove barriers to community participation and highlight the need for accessibility, employment, and education.

Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) are a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas.

Developmental disabilities include a range of lifelong conditions that may impact learning, communication, mobility, or daily living.

This month is about more than awareness. It’s about learning, listening, and taking action to build a more inclusive world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

At Birch Family Services, we’re proud to support individuals with developmental disabilities and autism through education, employment, residential services, and community programs that empower independence and belonging this month and every month!
